Acne has been around since ancient times and yet it is still not fully understood how this condition arises. There are two main types of acne – comedonal acne and inflammatory acne. Comedonal acne is where there are bumps on the skin that are similar to pimples which are caused by clogged hair follicles during puberty while inflammatory acne happens when there is an infection of Propionibacterium Acnes under the skin which leads to redness and swelling on the surface of the skin.
